Artur Azevedo, together with his brothers Carlos and Armando, founded the refrigeration company Irmãos Azevedo, Ltda. Its first product proves to be a great success, allowing the company to expand into the manufacturing of refrigerators.

The company starts exporting products to Spain, when the construction of its first facilities begin.

Fricon is positioned as the leader in the production of domestic appliances in Portugal. The production of equipments for ice cream begins, bringing in new customers, including the Unilever group.

The exporting strategy is strengthened. The company begins to implement environmental preservation practices. A new production unit is created, as a response to the growing needs of the market.

The company Irmãos Azevedo changes its name to Frigocon – Industria de refrigeração e refrigeração SA. In the same year, with the objective of strengthening its presence in the South American markets, creates Mercofricon SA in Brazil.

Fricon starts its operation in the supermarket equipment segment, establishing partnerships with brands such as Pingo Doce, Continente, Carrefour and Walmart.

Fricon constitutes a new commercial delegation in Spain, to strengthen and consolidate its presence in the Spanish market.

Present in over 115 countries, Fricon has a consolidated position in the international market, reinforcing its commitment to its business partners and, since 2015, starting new cycles of investments in technology and expansion of facilities.
